J.D. Power and Associates Recognizes Verizon Wireless in the West Region for 'Highest Call Quality'
Business Wire, Sept 7, 2007
DENVER -- Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the most reliable wireless voice and data network, announced today that the company has been recognized for the "Highest Call Quality Performance Among Wireless Cell Phone Users in the West Region," which includes Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming, in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study(SM)Volume 2.
The J.D. Power and Associates Wireless Call Quality Performance Study employs a call quality index based on seven criteria that impact overall carrier performance. The wireless phone subscribers surveyed were asked about their experiences with dropped calls, static/interference, failed connection on the first try, voice distortion, echoes, no immediate voice mail notification and no immediate text message notification. Verizon Wireless also ranked highest elsewhere in the Western U.S., including the states of Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.
"This is yet another recognition of Verizon Wireless' ongoing commitment to provide our customers with the best possible wireless experience - the most reliable wireless voice and data network, expansive 3G network, Rev. A enhancements, best devices, best customer service and store distribution," said Melanie Braidich, regional president of Verizon Wireless. "Our industry-leading customer loyalty is strongly tied to the performance of our network and the results of this survey demonstrate what our tests show - that we offer customers the highest call quality."
The company's 'most reliable wireless network' claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company's national advertising campaign. The engineers conduct more than 3 million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks. Verizon Wireless invested $239 million last year to enhance wireless services and coverage throughout the mountain states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming, elevating the cumulative network investment in those five states to more than $982 million since 2002. Nationally the company invests more than $1 billion every 90 days to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. The company's ongoing network investment now totals more than $40 billion nationally over the past seven years.
