Safeway (NYSE:SWY):
Jerry Rice (left) was one of many sports legends on the diamond at the Safeway Hall-of-Fame All Stars Charity Softball Game on Saturday at the University of California at Berkeley. Here Rice talks before the game with Safeway executives Chairman, President and CEO Steve Burd (center) and Executive Vice President, Chief Strategist and Administrative Officer Larree Renda. Each year Safeway's charity softball game - in which supermarket industry professionals challenge some of the biggest names in sports - raises money for cancer treatment and research.
Other sports stars playing in Saturday's game were Ozzie Smith, Vida Blue, Dave Stewart, Andre Dawson, Dave Parker, Steve Garvey, Bert Campaneris, Vince Coleman, George Foster, Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd, Bill "Spaceman" Lee, Willie McGee and Chris Speier. Safeway's team pulled off an exciting 14 to 9 victory over the All Stars.
