ClipBlast! to Index Video from The Hill, Bringing Election Year Drama to the Video Web

Business Wire,  April 1, 2008

Leading Video Search Platform Distributes Political Newspaper's Video Content

LOS ANGELES -- As the action heats up on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, ClipBlast! (www.clipblast.com), the premier Web-wide video search and distribution platform, today announced that it is indexing video content from leading political newspaper The Hill (www.thehill.com).

ClipBlast! will index all current and future content from The Hill's video channel, HillTube, including streaming videos from the site's popular features Leading the News, Opinion, and Capital Living.

"Online video is playing an unprecedented role in strategy and analysis for the primaries and the upcoming national elections," said Jennifer Yingling, Deputy Managing Editor of The Hill. "During the 2006 election cycle, YouTube and other user-generated video sites shaped the outcome of several key races. That influence has only grown in the intervening two years."

"We're delighted to provide live indexing of video content from The Hill, and to bring its in-depth political coverage to audiences who may not otherwise have experienced it," said Gary Baker, ClipBlast! founder and CEO. "The influence of video in the political debate gives added importance to ClipBlast!'s ability to distribute video content so that it can be explored and shared."

According to a ClipBlast!/Synovate survey, fielded among 1,000 online consumers last fall, substantial percentages expect to get their political news from the Video Web this election season -- 29.5 percent from online news video, 22 percent from debates online, and another 7.5 percent from video bloggers.

The Hill is known among those who influence policy as a "must read" in print and online. It signals the important issues of the moment. In an environment filled with political agendas, The Hill stands alone in delivering solid, non-partisan and objective reporting on the business of Washington, covering the inner-workings of Congress, as well as the nexus between politics and business. The Hill serves to connect the players, define the issues and influence the way Washington's decision makers view the debate.

The Hill has a print circulation above 21,000, more than any other Capitol Hill publication. It is aimed at the 100 senators, 435 House members, 40,000 aides and tens of thousands in the influence industry whose work affects the lives of all Americans. The newspaper is a subsidiary of News Communications Inc., a publicly owned company.
