A.M. Best to Host May 8 Webinar on Life Settlement Methodology, Legal Issues

Business Wire, April 10, 2008

OLDWICK, N.J. -- A.M. Best's head of structured finance ratings will lead an online discussion on "Issues in Life Settlement Securitization" on Thursday, May 8 at 10 a.m. EDT. Emmanuel Modu, Managing Director & Global Head of Structured Finance for the A.M. Best Company will lead the panel presentation and discussion. Modu will be joined by attorney J. Alan Jensen of Holland & Knight LLP.

A life settlement is an insurance policy sold by the owner--typically the insured or a trust--for an amount greater than the surrender value of the policy but lower than the face amount of the policy. Modu will discuss A.M. Best's approach to rating securities backed by life settlements. Jensen will focus on current legal issues surrounding the life settlement market.

A.M. Best recently updated its methodology for rating life settlements. The current methodology puts more emphasis on the issues surrounding life expectancy projections by medical examiners--one of the most critical service providers in life settlement transactions.

The webinar is offered at no cost. Visit https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/281485039 to register. Attendees will be able to submit text questions or comments during the presentation. In-region phone access is available worldwide.
