Intelsat Provides New Capacity into Brazil

PEMBROKE, Bermuda -- Intelsat, Ltd., the world's leading provider of commercial satellite services, announced today that its IS 10-02 satellite has been authorized for the provision of satellite capacity to Brazil.

Launched in 2004, the EADS Astrium-built Intelsat 10-02 has been providing a full range of services on its C- and Ku-band transponders, with coverage of Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East from its 359 degrees East orbital location.

Through this transmission authorization, the Intelsat 10-02 spacecraft will join the other 13 satellites within Intelsat's global fleet serving Brazil. Intelsat was the first satellite operator to establish a robust satellite-enabled communications infrastructure in the country, providing capacity for the delivery of video, network and voice services to Brazil's diverse regions. Through Intelsat, Internet trunking began bridging Brazil's digital divide; international programming reached Brazilian audiences; and, telephony services connected Brazil's most remote regions to large urban centers.
