Oncor Cuts Outages by Half in Drive to Restore Power

Business Wire,  April 11, 2008

DALLAS -- Oncor is closing in on its goal of restoring power to most Dallas/Fort Worth residents by late Saturday. As of 4 p.m., 25,000 homes and business in Dallas/Fort Worth were without power or half of this morning's total of 50,000. Work in the Dallas area is close to completion, releasing some of the 4,500 contractors and employees for work in Tarrant County.

"I am optimistic about our progress, but the work continues to be difficult and time-consuming," said Rob Trimble, president and chief operating officer, Oncor. "It's tiring to work 16-hour days, but getting the lights back on is what we do. I'm especially pleased that Oncor is achieving major milestones without any accidents."

All transmission lines in the Metroplex have been repaired or restored and all schools have service. Oncor continues to anticipate most customers will have power by late Saturday. At its height, the storm affected 250,000 customers throughout the Oncor system.

Oncor is a regulated electric distribution and transmission business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor operates the largest distribution and transmission system in Texas, providing power to 3 million electric delivery points over more than 102,000 miles of distribution and 14,000 miles of transmission lines. While Oncor is a subsidiary of EFH, Oncor is a separate entity that reports to a separate board that is comprised of a majority of independent directors.
