Avnet Electronics Marketing Delivers Virtex-5 FXT FPGA Evaluation Kit

PHOENIX -- The Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT) announces the release of the Xilinx[R] Virtex[R]-5 FXT FPGA Evaluation Kit. Based on the latest Virtex-5 FXT Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) from Xilinx, the kit includes an evaluation board, ISE[R] Design Suite 10.1 WebPACK[TM] design tools, evaluation Embedded Development Kit (EDK) software, power supply and access to reference designs and tutorials. The low-cost kit is ideal for software and FPGA designers interested in exploring the Virtex-5 FXT platform's embedded IBM PowerPC[R] 440 embedded blocks and system integration capabilities.
The Virtex-5 FXT FPGA Evaluation Kit uses one Virtex-5 FX30T device to deliver over 32,000 logic cells, 64 DSP48E slices, an 1100 MIPS @ 550 MHz PowerPC 440 processor block, eight RocketIO[TM] GTX low-power transceivers and four gigabit Ethernet Media Access Control (MAC) addresses. The evaluation kit also comes with supporting peripherals to provide an easy to use, entry level system for code development and debug, exploring processor architecture options, and general evaluation of the Virtex-5 FXT platform. The kit is priced at $395 with commercial shipments beginning in mid-May.
The board features:
* 64 MB DDR2 SDRAM and 16 MB Flash
* 10/100/1GB Ethernet PHY
* RS-232 and USB-UART serial ports
* Half slot EXP expansion interface
Target applications for the new kit include embedded applications targeting the IBM PowerPC 440 processor block, general FPGA prototyping, communications systems and image processing.
