PCI-SIG Approves LeCroy's Protocol Test Card for PCI Express 2.0
Business Wire, April 15, 2008
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- LeCroy Corporation, a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial protocol solutions, announced that the PCI-SIG([R]), the Special Interest Group responsible for PCI Express, has approved the LeCroy Protocol Test Card (PTC) as its standard test tool for PCI Express 2.0 protocol verification. LeCroy's new PTC has been developed in close collaboration with the Intel Corporation and PCI Express Industry, and is specifically designed to meet industry requirements for next-generation development tools for PCI Express.
"The introduction of LeCroy's Protocol Test Card will provide developers with an official test tool for PCIe 2.0 compliance testing later this fall," said Al Yanes, PCI-SIG president and chairman. "We are pleased to see LeCroy's continued investment in developing testing tools that help expedite the industry adoption of PCIe 2.0."
This new tool will be used by validation and test engineers to check for functionality of add-in cards, systems, and chips that use PCI Express 2.0. A newly-added user interface makes running the link, transaction and BIOS tests much simpler, allowing all tests to be selected from an intuitive menu and then run by simply pushing a button. A descriptive report can be generated indicating which of the tests were passed or failed.
"As the world leader in visual computing, NVIDIA[R] has a long history of driving innovations related to PCI-Express," said Michael Diamond, director of strategic marketing, NVIDIA Corporation. "LeCroy contributes to our ability to ensure the broadest compatibility for our GeForce[R], Quadro[R], and Tesla[TM] product families, and LeCroy PTC's new and improved interface has made it easier for our engineers to run PCI-Express Gen2 product tests and understand the test results."
"The PCI Express 2.0 technology is becoming the 'new standard' in I/O connectivity," said Jim Pappas, Director of Technology Initiatives at Intel Corporation. "Compliance tools like the LeCroy PCI Express 2.0 PTC will help lay a sure interoperability foundation that the industry can build on going forward."
"LeCroy has actively supported the PCI-SIG for the last several years with protocol and electrical compliance tools. We are very pleased that our PTC has been selected as a standard for testing PCI Express 2.0 protocol compliance," said Carmine Napolitano, General Manager of Protocol Solutions Group, LeCroy Corporation. "The LeCroy PTC completes our comprehensive suite of analysis tools for PCI Express 2.0."
LeCroy protocol analyzers and exercisers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development. All LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and the ability to create user-defined test reports, which allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time.
U.S. Pricing and Availability
The LeCroy PTC for PCIe 2.0 is available now. Pricing starts at $7,999.
