New Online Resource Offers Interactive Peer Comparison Quiz and Personal Finance Know-How Targeted at New Investors, Savers and Borrowers
SAN FRANCISCO -- Members of Generation X face a wide spectrum of financial challenges and life events, from paying off student loans and worrying about the future of Social Security, to saving for their children's education. Charles Schwab today announced the launch of a Web site designed to talk to and address the unique financial needs of Gen Xers. The web site provides easy to understand personal finance resources, ranging from an innovative peer comparison tool and calculators to guidance to investment basics by life stage. The Web site is available today at www.schwabmoneyandmore.com.
"Personal finances can be just that - a private matter not discussed among peers. However, this often leaves consumers to fend for themselves, managing their finances through a hit or miss approach," said Ben Stuart, senior vice president at Charles Schwab. "Schwab is dedicated to understanding the specific challenges Gen Xers face and providing them with the tools and services to help navigate their current finances and chart a course for their future. We want them to know there are resources available to them, and that it doesn't take much for them to get started."
You're Not Alone
A new feature exclusive to the site is an innovative peer comparison tool, which allows visitors to compare their financial situations and attitudes about money against those of their peers. Through a short series of questions, the online tool gauges responses against national averages based on a proprietary Schwab study of more than 5,000 people ages 25-40. Based on their input, users are provided with a printable snapshot of their answers, along with suggestions on how to get a better handle on their money or how to continue on the path toward financial fitness.
A Go-To Guide for Finances
Education about the basics of managing money is as easy as checking out a favorite blog or sharing a viral video. The site offers Gen Xers a quick one-stop money management resource featuring an easy to understand collection of financial know-how, tools and services. Specific offerings include:
* Schwab expert insight targeted at Gen X-specific life stages
* Glossary of financial terms
* Calculators including: college savings calculator, cost-of-debt calculator, savings calculator
* Link to an online community where Gen Xers can discuss money and more with one another
