CA Noted for Being Well Positioned to Satisfy Customer Needs
ISLANDIA, N.Y. -- CA today announced it has been named a "Leader" for data center automation (DCA) solutions in The Forrester Wave[TM]: Data Center Automation, Q2 2008 (April 2008) research report.* For the report, Forrester analysts evaluated seven vendors' solutions based on 80 criteria grouped by current offering, strategy and market presence. CA was noted for being well positioned to satisfy customer needs.
According to Forrester, DCA helps automate IT systems management process across technology domains. "Data center automation is a major contributor in the ongoing battle to drive down costs through increased automation," Forrester stated in the report. "Today's data center automation solutions provide IT with the functionality to automatically deploy, provision, change, and configure IT system resources. Early DCA tools automated a set of IT operations within specific technology domains, but the next-generation DCA tools span technology domains and incorporate four key functional areas: comprehensive discovery, configuration and change management, IT process orchestration, and change control."
"[CA's] DCA capabilities include change and configuration management, discovery and asset management, provisioning, patching, and workload automation," wrote Evelyn Hubbert, senior analyst, Forrester Research. "With these solutions along with integration into CA's CMDB, CA put itself among the roster of key DCA vendors."
"CA's Data Center Automation solutions allow flexible virtualized deployment across heterogeneous environments while leveraging current investments in related management solutions. By unifying workloads and workflows, CA DCA allows IT to integrate and automate complex processes across infrastructure domains, facilitating trustworthy operational decisions," said Roger Pilc, senior vice president and GM, CA's Infrastructure Management and Data Center Automation business unit. "Integration across CA's comprehensive portfolio of Business Service Management (BSM) solutions, along with CA's IT Governance and Security solutions, enhances the value and business impact of customers' DCA investments. These advantages make CA DCA the most dynamic, comprehensive and strategic solution available, providing cross-domain, policy-driven automation that gives customers the ability to optimize assets to meet the service demands of the business while controlling complexity and reducing both costs and errors."
