New Travel Assistance Services Help Employers Boost the Value of Their Liberty Mutual Group Life Insurance Programs

Business Wire, April 2, 2008

BOSTON -- For the first time, a comprehensive suite of travel assistance services is available to employees covered under Liberty Mutual group life insurance policies, whether they travel for business or pleasure.

A global network of more than 40,000 resources helps covered travelers with everything from replacing lost prescriptions and passports to handling complex medical or security evacuations. These services are available round-the-clock through a dedicated internet site and toll-free phone number.

"Beyond financial protection, a Liberty Mutual group life policy now helps an employee weather some of travel's toughest moments," notes Kevin Krzeminski, a senior vice president with the area of Liberty Mutual that offers group life, disability and leave services. "Adding travel assistance through the group life policy is an easy way for employers to strengthen their benefit programs."

Here's what employees - and any dependents traveling with them - get through Liberty Mutual's new travel assistance program anytime they travel more than 100 miles from home:

* Medical Evacuation. If a traveler has a medical emergency anywhere in the world, the program will cover transportation to the nearest medical facility that can provide appropriate care. And, the program will bring a family member or friend of an injured employee to the foreign hospital treating the traveler's emergency.

* Medical Assistance. The program draws on a carefully screened network of more than 40,000 international resources - from ambulance companies to physicians - to quickly meet a traveler's specific medical need. It also will help replace lost or stolen medical devices, prescriptions and corrective lenses, and manage the transfer of medical records from an employee's primary provider to those treating the individual abroad.

* Security and Political Evacuation. Employees can get the latest information on political unrest and security issues in countries from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe before they travel and throughout their trip. Should a crisis develop, costs associated with making any necessary evacuation arrangements are covered.

* Travel Assistance. The program provides critical service at trying times, from help replacing stolen passports, credit cards and airline tickets, to emergency translation and legal referral services.

* Destination Information. Employees can get the latest on their destination's weather, immunization and vaccination requirements, culture, currency and other information.

Liberty Mutual group life policyholders get fast and convenient access to these services through a partnership with MEDEX Assistance Corporation, a leading provider of travel assistance services, located in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2007 alone, MEDEX helped more than 23,000 travelers in more than 177 different countries.
