Prudential Financial's Koeppel Named Member of ERISA Advisory Council

NEWARK, N.J. -- Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU) announced today that Sanford Koeppel, vice president of legislative and regulatory affairs for Prudential Retirement, was one of five new members selected by U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao to serve on the U.S. Department of Labor's 2008 Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans.

The 15-member council, also known as the ERISA Advisory Council, advises the labor secretary on policies and regulations affecting employee benefit plans governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

Koeppel will serve a three-year term. He will bring his expertise on retirement security policy issues to bear on topics important to the administration of ERISA. As a member, he will also help identify and define important subjects, investigate and help develop final and interim reports of findings and recommendations to the council.

The ERISA Advisory Council, established by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), is a bipartisan council consisting of 15 members appointed to represent specified groups and fields that are involved in the employee benefits world. The council meets four times a year and makes recommendations to the U.S. Secretary of Labor regarding functions carried out under ERISA.
