BALTIMORE -- SafeNet, Inc., a global leader in information security, today announced the availability of its SafeEnterprise Conversion Encryptor (SCE), the world's only encryptor designed to secure Ethernet LAN PHY traffic over SONET/SDH networks at 10Gbps (OC192) speed.

Companies running 10 Gbps Ethernet LANs face challenges when transporting encrypted data between sites via carrier or private lines because 10 Gbps Ethernet often is not available from the carrier. SONET is the best alternative for high-speed networking, but the SONET network requires costly bridges to convert from 10 Gbps Ethernet LAN to SONET.

SMC allows network administrators to centrally manage SafeNet's entire family of network encryptors from a single console, helping companies to not only lower management costs but also to easily produce a data security audit trail to meet auditing requirements.
