Greenfield World Trade's Neal Asbury Named SBA's National Champion Exporter of the Year
Business Wire, April 23, 2008
WASHINGTON -- The SBA (Small Business Administration) today will present Neal Asbury, president of Greenfield World Trade, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, with the prestigious National Champion Exporter of the Year Award for 2008 during ceremonies in Washington, D.C. Asbury, whose company exports restaurant equipment and supplies worldwide, was recognized for his commitment to helping U.S. small businesses maintain world leadership in exporting U.S. goods.
"The U.S. must demonstrate its support and commitment to free trade across the world, which is instrumental in promoting U.S. goods, increasing employment, and helping small U.S. businesses prosper in the global marketplace," said Asbury. "This is the most prestigious award in the United States for international trade, and we are especially honored that Greenfield World Trade is the first Florida business and foodservice company to receive this award," he added.
To become the National Champion Exporter of The Year, Asbury's company first went through a series of competitions that included being recognized in February as "Exporter of the Year" for Florida (in February), which was preceded by being selected as the Region IV Exporter of the Year, covering the Southeast United States. Then from 10 regional winners, Greenfield World Trade was named Champion.
"This is an exciting time to be National Champion, at a time when the Presidential election year is elevating the importance of trade nationwide. It is my desire as Champion Exporter to leverage the award to promote the issues that are important to American exporters such as the pending Free Trade Agreements, Trade Promotion Authority and Intellectual Property Protection," added Asbury.
