BAE Systems Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Veterans Affairs' Center for Veterans Enterprise
Business Wire, April 23, 2008
ARLINGTON, Va. -- BAE Systems has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Center for Veterans Enterprise to formalize the ongoing efforts of the company's Customer Solutions operating group to provide procurement opportunities for veterans and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.
BAE Systems has been an ongoing supporter of the Center for Veterans Enterprise, and the MOU formalizes the group's commitment to support the Department of Defense and veterans that have served their country.
Dr. Marshall Banker, president of BAE Systems Customer Solutions and Gail Wegner, Deputy Director for the Center for Veterans Enterprise, signed the document during a recent ceremony at the company's Rosslyn, Virginia office.
"Our commitment to the veteran community has always been strong," Banker said. "We are dedicated to protecting those who protect us, both on the front line, in the workforce and in the veteran-owned small business community. Veteran small business owners have developed strong skills resulting from their service to their nation, which translates well to subcontractor relationships with BAE Systems."
Wegner said the Center for Veterans Enterprise is pleased to be in partnership with BAE Systems. "Their ongoing efforts have already made such an impact in the veteran-owned small business community, and I'm looking forward to what the future holds," she added.
In June 2007, the Center for Veterans Enterprise presented its Corporate Achievement Award to a BAE Systems unit based in Huntsville, Ala., for surpassing the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Utilization goal of 3 percent by 11 percent. The Company's Systems Engineering Services business in Huntsville is on target to exceed the goal again this year.
