Business Wire, April 29, 2008
New Webroot[R] E-Mail Security SaaS Solution is Recognized for Its Impact on Business Protection and Productivity
BOULDER, Colo. -- Webroot, a leading provider of security solutions for the consumer, enterprise and SMB markets, has been named a security category finalist for Best of Interop Las Vegas 2008. Interop Las Vegas 2008 is taking place April 27-May 2, 2008, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Webroot was chosen as a finalist from nearly 200 submissions. The judges, a panel of editors from InformationWeek, selected finalists in the security category based on their products' potential to impact and advance business technology efficiencies. The winner will be announced at a ceremony this afternoon.
Webroot is being recognized for its Webroot[R] E-mail Security SaaS (Software as a Service) solution which provides businesses with better protection, lower total cost of ownership and better manageability than perimeter security appliances or software. Webroot E-mail Security SaaS resides outside an organization's network and requires no additional hardware, software, or personnel resources to manage daily security operations. The solution includes dynamic virus and spam filters to protect against 98 percent of e-mail spam and 100 percent of known viruses.
"Webroot estimates every business e-mail account will receive up to 42,000 spam e-mails in 2008," said Mike Irwin, COO, Webroot. "Traditional security defenses are no longer enough to protect businesses against malware threats transported in spam e-mail or the strain it places on their networks. Recognition from the judges of Best of Interop Las Vegas 2008 for Webroot E-Mail Security SaaS is further validation that perimeter-based security delivers businesses more effective and more manageable protection than appliances and software."
