FIM Forms Advertising Network to Serve Its Portfolio of Leading Web Brands and Beyond
New Business Unit to Leverage Industry-Leading Technologies to Power Monetization for FIM Sites and Third-Party Clients
LOS ANGELES -- Fox Interactive Media (FIM) today announced the appointment of Adam Bain to the new post of President, Fox Interactive Media Audience Network. The new unit's charter will be to optimize monetization across FIM's content network and for third-party publishers leveraging both the company's industry-leading HyperTargeting technology and ad-serving platform.
Bain previously served as the company's EVP of Technology and Production, a role in which he oversaw FIM's 2007 acquisition of Strategic Data Corporation (SDC) - a yield optimization firm, which became the basis of FIM's monetization platform, and spearheaded the creation of the company's industry-leading HyperTargeting by MySpace. Bain will continue to report directly to Peter Levinsohn, President of Fox Interactive Media, and will be based out of FIM's Santa Monica offices.
"Adam and his team have done an incredible job building advertising technologies that harness the opportunity of the social Internet," said Peter Levinsohn, President of Fox Interactive Media. "The platforms developed under Adam's leadership are highly-scalable and can be leveraged by sites both inside and outside the FIM family. By formally creating the Audience Network, we have empowered Adam and his team to grow this part of our business substantially."
The new unit will combine FIM's advertising technology, ad operations and performance sales efforts into one unit. The team will be responsible for the sales of performance-based ads for both FIM and third-party sites. Under Bain's direction, FIM will also continue to work with third-party ad networks to sell inventory across its properties.
As FIM's EVP of Technology and Production, Bain drove technical innovation and development across FIM's portfolio of businesses. In addition to HyperTargeting by MySpace, Bain's team was responsible for the creation of a Self-Service ad product, slated to launch on MySpace this year. Both products will continue to be managed by Bain in the Audience Network and will be adapted to serve the needs of other FIM and non-FIM clients.
"MySpace and the rest of the FIM properties provided an incredible opportunity for us to develop solutions that were not available anywhere in the market," said Bain. "Our goal of delivering the most relevant ads possible in the most efficient and effective manner has resulted in a unique and powerful platform that we are now ready to take outside of FIM's doors."
Bain continued: "I'm excited to play a key role in building this business for FIM and for News Corporation and to work with partners and clients across the industry to break new ground in the online advertising space."
Bain began his career with News Corp. as the Vice President of Production and Development at FOX Sports Interactive. His responsibilities included overseeing development of all existing and new products, engineering, design, production, video and broadband for FOX Sports' broadcast and cable interactive arms. Prior to joining FOX Sports, he served in various new media roles at both the Los Angeles Times, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Ohio's largest daily newspaper.
