Eplica Utilizes Verastream Host Integrator to Provide Customers Direct Access to Mission-Critical Information, Realizes $150 Million Revenue Growth in First Year from New Services
SEATTLE -- Attachmate Corporation today announced that Eplica Incorporated has significantly increased its revenue by using Verastream([R]) Host Integrator software to create user-friendly Web interfaces, giving customers access to information stored on robust VMS mainframe systems.
Leveraging Verastream Host Integrator, Eplica, a leading provider of back-office services and support to staffing companies, is able to offer customers one-of-a-kind Web interface tools to access mainframe information such as employee hours, billing information, and service order tracking. These tools allowed Eplica to experience increased customer satisfaction and revenue as soon as Verastream was deployed.
Eplica's customers rely on monitoring up-to-the-minute service order information to assure they are reaching productivity goals within tight time constraints. Prior to using Verastream, retrieving and providing this information to customers was a costly, manual process that could only be completed by a team of highly trained IT technicians. Verastream has allowed Eplica to expose data and logic in its back-end mainframe systems as Web services that can be mixed, matched and reused to extend legacy functionality to clients via a Web interface. Now, clients can directly monitor and alter service orders in real-time, instead of working through a team of administrative staff.
"Verastream turned our back-end applications into services we could provide," said Brad Taylor, systems architect at Eplica. "It allowed us to take these really robust back-end services that we loved, but that people hated to use, and turn them into something that is easy to use. We are creating new applications from these services every day."
Eplica first realized it needed a new way to provide client access to service order information when a major new customer required employees to clock-in and -out, as well as track projects, at their computers. To secure the customer contract, Eplica's IT team needed a cost effective solution that could be implemented almost immediately. Eplica strongly considered Verastream and Seagull software solutions.
"Seagull's solution was far more expensive and its customer service wasn't nearly as good as Attachmate's," said Taylor. "Furthermore, Seagull didn't have the robustness, which was a key element."
Upon purchasing Verastream, Eplica was able to implement and deploy the solution in days. The ease-of-install, pre-packaged features and superb customer services allowed Eplica to meet its customers' requests and resulted in an almost immediate surge in revenue.
"Attachmate is the best company I have worked with in terms of customer support," said Taylor, "An Attachmate technician came out to help deploy Verastream and, with his help, the solution was right on the money."
Taylor estimates that Eplica's customer was able to realize millions in revenue in the year following the Verastream deployment, thanks to the additional services Eplica was able to offer clients. Today, Eplica is seeing dividends from its investment in Verastream, as it converts more back-end applications into user-friendly services to expand its breadth of solutions.
Since the initial deployment, Eplica has repurposed Verastream to streamline its billing process, to allow customers to submit new orders and modify orders online, and to create countless other service offerings.
"Eplica is dedicated to delivering fast, accurate information to its customers," said Eric Varness, vice president of marketing for Attachmate. "Eplica's experience is a classic example of the ease with which Verastream can integrate into mainframe processes to allow customers to almost instantaneously broaden service offerings without compromising their IT security, budget, or resources."
