Yankee Group Hires Ashvin Vellody as Senior Vice President of Research

Key Addition to Research Leadership Team Augments Firm's Depth of Connectivity Analysis and Client Strategy
BOSTON -- Yankee Group today announced that industry veteran Ashvin Vellody has joined the firm as senior vice president of Enabling Technologies research. In this role, Vellody will lead Yankee Group's research team focused on analyzing the technologies that are transforming Anywhere global connectivity, and advising clients on their market and economic impact.
Vellody will work closely with Philip Marshall, Ph.D., a prominent leader of Yankee Group's research team since 2000, who was recently named to the position of senior research fellow, technology strategist. Vellody's and Marshall's new roles will enable the company to offer deeper focus and attention to key clients and connectivity research topics. Both Marshall and Vellody will report to Chief Research Officer Eileen Eastman. "With Ashvin's direct involvement with the technologies that are driving the Anywhere Revolution, he will guide our Enabling Technologies research team and become a trusted advisor to Yankee Group clients," said Eastman. "Our clients will benefit from the added strength in the combined team of Vellody and Marshall to offer deeper counsel and technical analysis of the fast-moving Anywhere marketplace."

Vellody will be speaking at the 4G Summit at WiMax World on September 30 in Chicago, Ill.
Vellody has more than 15 years of expertise as a leader in defining IT strategy. Before Yankee Group, he was director of enterprise architecture and strategy planning at US Cellular, where he oversaw IT planning, asset management and solutions architecture. Previously, Vellody worked at Capgemini LLC as manager of consulting services, where he led the North American software engineering practice and oversaw consulting engagements and client relationships. Vellody also held consulting and engineering roles at I-flex Solutions and Asea Brown Boveri in India.
Vellody earned a master of business administration degree from the JL Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He received a bachelor of electrical and electronics engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology in Suratkal, India.
