Advisory Research, Inc. Files 13D Regarding the Proposed Sale of Longs Drug
Business Wire, August 20, 2008
CHICAGO -- Advisory Research, Inc. ("ARI") currently holds for its clients in excess of 3.3 million shares of Longs Drug Stores ("Longs" or "the Company"), representing approximately 9.3% of the outstanding shares of the Company. As indicated in our Form 13D filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 20th, 2008, ARI believes that additional disclosure and examination of the assets is required before Longs shareholders are in a position to determine the adequacy of CVS Caremark Corporation's ("CVS") bid.
Based upon the information that has been provided to date, ARI believes the CVS bid may fail to reflect the value of Longs and its related assets (including, but not limited to, owned real estate and long term lease agreements). Should the Company refuse to provide additional detail on such assets, ARI is ready to take additional steps to protect the value of its clients' investment.
