Last Building at Sonesta Jaco Resort Topped-off
JACO BEACH, Costa Rica -- The sixth and final building in the initial phase of the Sonesta Jaco Resort (www.SonestaJaco.com) has been topped-off, marking the end of the race to the sky and a new surge in efforts to finish the interior of the largest, most luxurious high-rise resort on Costa Rica's Central Pacific Coast.
"We're excited to have finished the bulk of the heavy construction and will intensify our focus on the building interiors, the grounds, and the pool," said Joshua ten Brink, General Manager for Riverside Developers, from his vantage point on the roof of building J-2, overlooking what is to become one of the largest swimming pools in Costa Rica's history.
The Sonesta Jaco Resort stands in sharp contrast to the traditional building style in the area, reminiscent of a cruise liner, with its modern, curvilinear structure echoing the arc of verdant foothills that provide a backdrop to this classic surfing town. The first phase, including over 190 suites comprised of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and penthouse condominium hotel units, will be completed by the end of this year, in time for the resort's Grand Opening in 2009.
"It is exciting to expand our resort operations into Costa Rica," said Stephanie Sonnabend, President and CEO for the Sonesta Collection (www.Sonesta.com). "Given the explosive growth in tourism there," she continued, "Costa Rica was a logical choice of location for a new Sonesta resort. The Sonesta Jaco Resort will elevate the level of luxury resort accommodations beyond what is currently available in Costa Rica. It is such a short flight from the U.S., we expect a fantastic response, especially during this time of rising fuel and airfare costs. Consumers are looking for a great resort that isn't expensive to reach. Despite its exotic location, Sonesta Jaco Resort fits that description precisely."
Sonesta Jaco Resort is a contemporary, 13-story all-suite resort in the legendary beach town of Jaco, and will feature a whirlpool in every suite, and offer panoramic views of the Central Pacific Coast and tropical rain forests. The resort is located 90 minutes from Juan Santamaria International airport, and just a short distance from downtown Jaco. All of the attractions that Costa Rica is known for are located nearby including canopy tours of the rainforest, fishing, golfing, horseback riding, nature trails, surfing, spas, and many restaurants. The resort's nearby private Beach Club will offer a unique level of luxury with spectacular swimming pools, beach front bar and all the amenities of a world class beach club.
