XMLAW's OneView[TM] to provide a global intranet platform for information sharing, communication and collaboration throughout the firm
BRAINTREE, Mass. -- XMLAW, the leading provider of SharePoint-powered information management solutions for law firms, today announced that Reed Smith LLP (www.reedsmith.com) has selected XMLAW's OneView [TM] information management suite to power the firm's global intranet.
Reed Smith is one of the largest law firms in the world, with more than 1,600 attorneys in 22 offices throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States. To support such a large number of professionals working in disparate locations, Reed Smith has invested in multiple technology platforms and tools to control the massive volume of information produced and accessed by the firm's legal professionals and support staff every day. While specialized systems such as document management, enterprise search tools and knowledge management applications add significant value to this information, supporting and training staff on multiple disconnected systems poses additional challenges to the firm.
XMLAW's OneView suite of information management tools provide the means to seamlessly integrate these systems and information sources into a single, role-based interface that great simplifies information access and switching between sources to find critical practice and client content. Built on the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 platform, OneView extends the platform's communication and collaboration capabilities to meet the needs of large, global law firms such as Reed Smith and greatly accelerates the firm-wide implementation of a SharePoint-based intranet environment.
"In rebuilding our intranet, our primary goal is to provide a single point of access to all the information our attorneys need without having to switch between different applications or understanding how different systems operate," said Tom Baldwin, Reed Smith's Chief Knowledge Officer. "Reed Smith's knowledge management efforts are supported by several 'best of breed' tools and applications, and our new intranet will maximize the utilization of these tools by making the underlying technology or application transparent to the lawyers using them. Using OneView along with XMLAW's industry and technology expertise will greatly reduce the time and effort required to achieve these goals."
XMLAW's client services team, comprised of certified SharePoint professionals and legal industry technology experts, will collaborate with Reed Smith's team to design and deploy OneView and SharePoint to all of the firm's 22 offices while providing a scalable, global infrastructure that will grow with the firm's needs going forward. Special focus will be placed on delivering rich, interactive content and streaming video using advanced user interface technologies such as Microsoft's Silverlight. Dot Net Solutions (www.dotnetsolutions.ltd.uk), XMLAW's UK partner, will provide expert Silverlight design and development services as part of the implementation.
"We are proud that Reed Smith selected XMLAW's OneView and expert services to deliver a cutting-edge intranet platform to unify the firm's communication, collaboration tools and other technology investments," said Rob Saccone, XMLAW CEO. "Reed Smith has a clear vision of how to improve efficiency and productivity through creative use of advanced technologies, and we are excited to be a part of that vision."
