KORE Becomes First Specialized Wireless M2M Carrier on GSA Schedule to Power Public Sector Applications for Asset Tracking, Environmental Monitoring and Homeland Security
RESTON, Va. & TORONTO -- KORE Telematics, the world's largest digital wireless services provider specializing in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, today announced that its M2M wireless network services are now available on a U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule Contract. Through its partnership with immixGroup, Inc., KORE GSM and CDMA cellular data services are available to public sector organizations for powering the innovative applications that enable them to achieve their missions, including asset tracking, offender monitoring, security and surveillance applications, all of which fall under the expanding M2M banner.
KORE's addition to immixGroup's GSA Schedule 70 contract comes on the heels of the National Intelligence Council's Global Trends 2025 report, which examines six potentially disruptive technologies that could emerge in the next fifteen years. One of the six identified technologies is the "Internet of Things," the idea that machines or objects can be readable, recognizable, locatable and/or controllable via the Internet or wireless network. Beyond simple phone calls or text messages, the KORE M2M wireless network will help power the "Internet of Things," enabling public sector organizations to improve overall productivity.
While mega-contracts offering line items for cellular voice and laptop/PDA services already exist, KORE is the only 100 percent M2M-focused all digital cellular provider listed on the GSA Schedule that delivers a comprehensive set of cellular services tailored for M2M, telemetry and telematics. The KORE M2M network is available to U.S. Federal Civilian and Department of Defense agencies, as well as state and local government organizations under the GSA's Cooperative Purchasing agreement. These public sector organizations are adopting M2M applications to achieve mission success by driving safety, security and efficiency improvements. For instance, wireless cargo monitoring and asset tracking applications enhance homeland security, while M2M applications for environmental monitoring and automated meter reading stimulate green initiatives and reduce energy consumption.
"The public sector industry continues to adopt wireless technologies to facilitate communication between both people and machines," said Art Richer, president, immixGroup, Inc. "We are now able to offer our public sector customers reliable, digital wireless network services to meet their telemetry needs. Adding KORE to our GSA Schedule provides our customers with the wireless services necessary for new applications that enhance homeland security, reduce operational costs and drive productivity improvements."
KORE is offering both GSM and CDMA cellular data network options from one contract, including its pioneering 'pooled services' which ensure applications use, and the user pays for, only the precise amount of data required. In so doing, KORE is providing government organizations with the flexibility required to expand M2M innovations cost effectively within their operations. In addition, state and local agencies can now purchase cellular data services with rate plans tailored to their specific application needs. For instance, local municipalities can now use the KORE network to cost-effectively track city vehicles.
"The public sector is already realizing the many benefits of M2M applications and has adopted the technology across all levels of the government and military," said Alex Brisbourne, president and chief operating officer, KORE. "We selected immixGroup as our GSA partner because of its recognized position as an IT leader in the government market. This complements a commitment to deliver, through our specialized account team exclusively focused on the public sector, more effective asset, security and environmental solutions. As the first and only specialized wireless M2M carrier on a GSA Schedule, KORE understands the unique requirements of public sector organizations and will work with immixGroup to deliver M2M network services that will enable mission success through cost savings, improved security and automated processes."
