SpeechTEK Labs Will Give Attendees the Opportunity to Sample the Latest Products

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Gamers are putting their controllers down to try the latest innovation in video games: automated voice commands. Video games are among the newest speech technology applications that will be on display at SpeechTEK 2008, Speech in the Mainstream, at the New York Marriott Marquis August 18-20.
For the first time ever, SpeechTEK will host hands-on labs featuring innovations in gaming, tools for developers and multimodal applications.
SpeechTEK Labs will give attendees the opportunity to get hands-on experiences with new tools, applications and devices, talk to developers and interact with an expert panel that will be rating the new products.

Tuesday, August 19, 10:45 AM - 12:30 PM
Tools for Developers Lab moderated by Moshe Yudkowsky, president, Disaggregate Consulting, will feature a variety of competing and complementary tools for the entire development process from coding through final testing.
Tuesday, August 19, 1:45 - 3:30 PM,
Nuance enhances the gaming experience by providing developers with speech recognition, Dragon NaturallySpeaking dictation, text-to-speech and speaker verification. The Voice-Activated Games Lab, moderated by David Thomson, CTO, SpeechPhone, features several electronic games that have been voice-activated using Nuance technology. Attendees can try out the games firsthand and see how speech technologies make games more exciting, realistic, and easy to play.

Multimodal Applications Lab moderated by Deborah Dahl, principal, Conversational Technologies, will demonstrate how voice can be combined with other input modalities to dramatically enhance the capabilities and usability of applications.
