Business Wire, Dec 11, 2008
CINCINNATI -- Duro Bag Manufacturing Company today announced that it has appointed Robert J. Lackman to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Supply Chain for its Duro Standard Products division.
Duro Bag is the world's largest manufacturer and marketer of paper bags and luxury paper bags. It sells to major foodservice, grocery, retail and wholesale/distribution businesses in North America. Duro Standard Products is the company's largest manufacturing division.
Lackman, a 25-year supply chain and distribution veteran, most recently served as vice president of supply chain and purchasing for a $1 billion revenue sportswear company. Prior to that, he was a senior purchasing and supply chain executive for xpedx, the world's largest paper and packaging supplies and equipment distribution company.
In his new position at Duro Standard Products, Lackman is responsible for overseeing all aspects of transportation management, purchasing, customer service and manufacturing scheduling at all of the company's U.S. facilities. Lackman reports to John F. Gillen, newly appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Duro Standard Products.
"Ultimately, this job is about ensuring our customers get the quality products they want, precisely when they want them," said Lackman. "It's about reducing complexity and helping customers maximize efficiencies within their own operations. To achieve that, Duro Bag is driven to make its own supply chain efficient and productive as possible so our customers are well served."
"Vendors that take complexity out of a customer's supply chain are valuable strategic partners," said Charles Shor, Chairman and CEO of Duro Bag. "Rob's expertise in improving global supply chains will help us further improve service to our customers as we optimize production and distribution efficiencies."
Lackman, a Cincinnati native, was most recently Vice President of Purchasing and Supply Chain and an equity partner of Broder Brothers, Philadelphia, where he managed its global supply chain, helped the company reduce operating expenses and enter new markets. From 1995-2007, he worked for Cincinnati-based xpedx, many of those years as Director of Supply of Purchasing, Global Importing and Supply Chain. He coordinated domestic and global purchasing, led cost savings initiatives and oversaw supply chain improvements at all of the company's U.S. distribution centers.
Before that, Lackman had senior distribution and plant management positions at Cincinnati-based Hillman Fastener and was operations manager at the Cincinnati regional distribution center for W.W. Grainger (NYSE: GWW). He holds a B.S. in Business and Marketing from the University of Cincinnati.
