State Street's Brian Walsh Selected as One of IDG's Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2009

State Street's IT Team Continues to Win Accolades From Key Industry Publications and also Wins Prestigious American Financial Technology Awards for Best Infrastructure

BOSTON -- State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), the world's leading provider of financial services to institutional investors, announced today that Brian Walsh, executive vice president and head of information technology for State Street's Investor Services team, has been named as one of IDG's Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leaders for the 2009 Awards Program. State Street was also recognized by American Financial Technology Awards for the Best Infrastructure at an award ceremony hosted last week in New York.

Computerworld's Premier 100 honors individuals who have had an impact on their organization through technology. The honored individuals manage internal IT organizations, mentor and motivate their IT team with interesting challenges, envision innovative solutions to business problems and effectively manage and execute IT strategies.

Walsh, who has nearly two decades of experience at State Street, is responsible for overseeing the information technology requirements of State Street's Investor Services customers in 25 countries. This position includes oversight for the institutional portfolio accounting and investment operations recordkeeping, pricing and valuations. He is a graduate of Boston College and is the IT representative for State Street's Environmental Sustainability Committee.

At the fourth annual American Financial Technology Awards, State Street was also honored with the award for Best Infrastructure for their "Zero Footprint, Maximum Impact" project. AFTA recognizes industry excellence in the deployment and management of financial IT within the banking community. State Street was awarded for its innovative and cost- effective Zero Footprint project. The project essentially reduces the IT infrastructure footprint in the local office and instead strongly relies on regional datacenters. By minimizing the infrastructure deployed to local sites, the team can accelerate implementation and reduce costs.
