Schaeffer's Street Stories: Dell Inc. Goes Green with Packaging Plan

CINCINNATI -- Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL) this morning announced efforts to pursue greener operations that will not only help the planet, but also save the company more than $8 million. The company hopes to simplify and revolutionize computer packaging, resulting in the elimination of approximately 20 million pounds of packaging material during the next 4 years.
Specifically, Dell plans to reduce desktop and laptop packaging materials by approximately 10% worldwide, increase sustainable content in cushioning and corrugate packaging by 40%, and ensure that 75% of packaging components are curbside recyclable by 2012.
