The Sun-Times News Group Kicks Off "Did You Know?" Advertising Campaign To Let The World Know Who's Really No. 1 In The Chicago Region

CHICAGO -- Sun-Times Media Group, Inc. (NYSE:SVN) and its operating division, the Sun-Times News Group, today announced it has launched a "Did You Know?" promotional campaign that targets advertisers in the Chicago area and beyond. Specifically, the Chicago Sun-Times, which has often been tagged the No. 2 newspaper in Chicago, is actually the No. 1 paper in the city of Chicago based on an average of 1.1 million readers weekly, according to Scarborough Research, an independent research firm.

On a regional scale, the Sun-Times News Group, which consists of eight daily and 63 weekly newspapers spanning the Chicago area, has an impressive reach: Monday through Friday the papers combined, on average, reach 52 percent more readers than its largest competitor. That's just the beginning of many messages to advertisers in the Chicago community.

"Advertisers need to know where they can reach the most people, and that's the Sun-Times News Group. These facts have been well-kept secrets in Chicago and the suburbs, but no more," said Cyrus Freidheim, Chief Executive Officer of Sun-Times Media Group and Publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times. "It was high time we stepped up and let the world know that we - not those other guys - are No. 1 in Chicago and beyond."

The Sun-Times News Group has bought radio, print and online advertising to get the message out to advertisers, so they better understand just how far their advertising dollars go with the Sun-Times News Group.

The Sun-Times News Group's newspapers include the Chicago Sun-Times; The Beacon News (Aurora), The Herald News (Joliet), Lake County News-Sun, The Courier News (Elgin), SouthtownStar, The Naperville Sun, and 51 Pioneer Press weekly titles.
