Dot Platform: World's Only Approved Solution that Combines Short, Medium and Long Range Communications
DALLAS -- Axcess International Inc. (OTCBB: AXSI), a leading provider of wireless business activity monitoring solutions, today announced that its new Dot[TM] micro-wireless technology has received the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval. This approval gives Dot the distinction of being the world's only approved hybrid micro-wireless solution. Micro-wireless communications operate over a separate frequency band so as not to interfere with corporate wireless networks but rather to interface seamlessly and complement those networks by making it easy to add enterprise applications for enhanced productivity, security and safety. Dot utilizes multiple frequency bands to provide numerous solutions on a common wireless device for communications over various distances. Dot provides vast new opportunities for real-time business activity monitoring by wirelessly enabling personnel, assets and vehicles in and around the enterprise.
Dot technology incorporates a battery powered, software definable wireless transceiver that is compatible with multiple global regulations. Dot solutions are based on a micro-wireless system implementation that fits seamlessly into, yet operates separately underneath, the corporate network to operate efficiently and non-disruptively. 'Dot-ting' the enterprise generates a real time "wireless intelligence." For example, the device communicates over a short range for personnel access control. For medium range communications, it is compatible with the Electronic Product Code (EPC) standard for automatically identifying products moving through the supply chain. By utilizing its long range capabilities, Dot enables widespread enterprise asset tracking and personnel emergency evacuation.

The FCC recently revised their requirements, making them more stringent to discourage indiscriminate wireless transmissions. Dot meets these requirements that promote a green environment for radio frequency (RF) transmissions.

Dots are ultra small, battery powered wireless computers embedded into or attached to things such as ID cards, assets and vehicles enabling them to be automatically identified, located, counted and sensed. This technology serves as the heart of many new and innovative products from Axcess such as an automatic access control card credential, a long range bar code, an electronic property tag, a vehicle identification tag, an electronic cargo container seal, a wireless sensor transmitter and limitless other uses.
Dot, based on a revolutionary system-on-a-chip (SOC) technology design, is the world's smallest, most powerful, lowest cost battery-powered wireless computer. Axcess' invention combines a processor, memory and wireless communications into one chip about the size of a single grain of rice. It is as powerful as the first personal digital assistants (PDAs). It runs for years on a watch battery, stores at least three pages of information in memory and communicates to the world at high speed, all at a cost of only a few dollars each.
Dot is a one-of-a-kind hybrid, a single wireless source, common to multiple industry standards and supporting virtually all industries including manufacturing, the enterprise, oil and gas, utilities, education, government and the military. Memory and sensor inputs enable the Dot to be tailored to a myriad of specific data capture needs. Dot is not only a better solution for access control badges, but also a better solution for passive RFID product tags, active RFID asset tags, Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) and distributed sensor transmitters. Bringing together the new functions of Dot and building on the current Axcess micro-wireless infrastructure for enterprise management creates an open architecture for multiple sources of data to be acquired to deliver previously inaccessible business intelligence.
The active RFID and RTLS portions of Dot's capabilities are built on and are backwardly compatible with the existing Axcess 433 MHz platform, which automatically activates tags on-demand to transmit micro-wireless messages as needed up to 1,000 feet to hidden palm-size receivers. The receivers are connected via standard network (either 802.11X wireless or wired) simultaneously to the enterprise system software and the existing security alarm equipment. Axcess' Dot system has been adopted by, is integrated with and supports several of its strategic business partners' standalone middleware and end-user software products through integration with Axcess' feature rich software platform marketed under the e-Supervisor(TM) label.
