Triple Play Effort Becomes First U.S. Deployment Combining Business Process Management, Model-Driven Integration and Project Management
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The City of Lake Charles, Louisiana, a city that boasts a population of more than 71,000 people and is home to some of the most beautiful natural habitats in the nation, has completed its rollout of Enterprise Business Process Management (BPM) and Business Process-Driven Service-Oriented Application Engineering based on the collective efforts of IDS Scheer, the leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM), E2E, the pioneer in Model Driven Integration (MDI) software, and PMOLink, Inc., experts in process engineering, project management and decision support. As the first U.S. organization to collectively deploy BPM, MDI and project management, the City of Lake Charles can now boast automation of its decades-old paper-driven processes and aging legacy database management system.
"The City of Lake Charles was operating within a limited budget and needed to adhere to a State of Louisiana grant to fund this project," said Mark Johnson, Chairman of the Board and Chief Financial Officer of PMOLink, Inc. "While the City realized a need to keep the legacy 'back end' of our system, we also knew that their current processes were hampering productivity and causing bureaucratic inefficiencies." According to Johnson, the City of Lake Charles turned to the project management experts at PMOLink to lead the effort in tandem with its technology partners IDS Scheer and E2E.
PMOLink provided the answer with a synergistic approach by leveraging the combination of BPM and Model-Driven Integration (MDI) tools and adapting the functionality for the City's legacy system and DBMS. PMOLink used the ARIS Platform to streamline processes and define services designated for automation via a customer web portal model. After that phase, PMOLink turned to new partner E2E and its E2E Bridge, the first fully Model Driven Integration (MDI) software for Application Integration and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), to specify and manage the integration with the legacy system. E2E recently announced the E2E Bridge 4.0, its fourth generation MDI platform offers the first - and only - integrated development, execution and testing environment based on direct Model Execution for UML, BPMN and other modeling languages such as IDS Scheer's EPC format.
"Our collective efforts have created a template of excellence for municipalities across the U.S. to follow based on our capability for taking the processes for managing Building Permits, Inspections, and Zoning in the City of Lake Charles and bringing them into the 21st century," said PMOLink CEO Randy Surratt.
The City of Lake Charles has made significant process strides and is looking to the future. "The bottom line is that their processes are working well, their employees and other constituents have embraced the change willingly, and, most importantly, they accomplished this feat with a limited budget," added Johnson. "Their processes are now well-documented and the web services and MDI models will be completely reusable when the time comes for the replacement of its old mainframe-based legacy system."
