The Internet Society welcomes Intel as a new sponsor of the ISOC Fellowship to the IETF
Business Wire, Feb 15, 2008
RESTON, Va. & GENEVA -- The Internet Society (ISOC) welcomes Intel as a new sponsor of the ISOC Fellowship to the IETF.
By supporting this program, Intel demonstrates its commitment for technical capacity building around the world.
The Internet Society's Fellowship program helps skilled technologists from the developing world to experience Internet standards development process in person. While much of the IETF's work takes place over mailing lists, the in-person experience promotes a stronger understanding of the standardisation process, encourages active involvement in IETF work, and facilitates personal networking with others that have similar technical interests.
The ISOC Fellowship to the IETF program covers the travel and attendance costs for selected Fellows. As an additional benefit, the Fellows are paired with more experienced members of the Internet technical community who act as their mentors for the course of an IETF meeting.
"Intel is pleased to support the ISOC Fellowship Program, to build Internet technical capacity in developing nations, and encourage more people around the world to experience the Internet," said Alan Crouch, Director and GM, Communications Technology Lab, Intel Corporation.
ISOC president and CEO Lynn St. Amour today welcomed Intel's sponsorship. "We appreciate and value Intel's decision to support the Internet Society's work with the Internet Engineering Task Force and provide valuable opportunities for technologists in the developing world to meet their peers," says St. Amour. "Intel is a significant and experienced member of the global Internet community and we look forward to the benefits their support will bring to this program."
