Eagle Rock Energy Partners, L.P. Announces Limited Pipeline Fire in Remote Rural Area of Hidalgo County, Texas

HOUSTON -- Eagle Rock Energy Partners, L.P. (Nasdaq:EROC) (the "Partnership") today announced that its subsidiary, HESCO Gathering Company, experienced an explosion and limited fire on its Phase "I" 20-inch pipeline located in a remote rural area of Hidalgo, County, Texas. The Partnership confirmed that no injuries or fatalities occurred in connection with the incident and minimal property damage was experienced. In addition, the Partnership promptly shut off the source of natural gas flowing through the affected pipeline and the fire was contained and is now substantially extinguished. The pipeline had been carrying up to approximately 35 MMcfd of natural gas, and at present, all but 5 MMcfd of the pipeline's volumes have been diverted to alternate outlets. The Partnership has initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
