Pet Supermarket Adds Even More Pet Fashions, Collars, Harnesses and Leads

Business Wire, Feb 20, 2008

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Pet Supermarket, the nation's largest independently owned pet specialty store with more than 100 stores nationwide, has continued to expand its Pet Fashion departments throughout its stores chain wide.

Pet Supermarket is staying a step ahead of the national trend in providing dog fashions and stylish accessories. The stores have sold pet clothes, collars, harnesses and leads for years, but recently Pet Supermarket has increased its selection of collars, harnesses and leads to be the largest in the pet industry. The sales of matching collars, harnesses and leads have skyrocketed as consumers keep their dogs "in style". Trendy attitude tee shirts, dog pajamas, raincoats, party dresses, and polo shirts are offered in a large variety of sizes and styles. Some stores also carry licensed athletic team jerseys and sweaters.

Pet Supermarket's fashion departments are most impressive at their new "Walk in the Park" format stores in Miramar, Florida (3081 SW 160th St.) and at their new location in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (3939 N. Federal Highway). These two stores are great examples of the direction the company is taking in retailing the collars, harnesses and leads.

Diane Holtz, President and COO comments, "Not only do pet fashions help the company's bottom line, but they are also fun. It's most fashionable for dogs to wear matching collars and harnesses, especially for the large dogs. Pet Supermarket sold more pet fashions in the 4th quarter of 2007 than in any other quarter in company history. This is due to our increased selection, and the overall industry trend."

Pet Supermarket is headquartered in Sunrise, Florida. Each conveniently located store offers more than 8,000 pet products at competitive prices. Pet Supermarket employees pride themselves on customer service, knowledge and concern for pets. Their motto is: "At Pet Supermarket you can have a healthier pet for less."
