New Systems Feature MetaSDRAM[TM], Quadrupling Memory Capacity to Power Compute-Intensive Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Colfax International, a global supplier of fully-customizable, high-performance enterprise computing systems, today announced the availability of servers and workstations featuring MetaRAM's DDR2 MetaSDRAM[TM] Technology, quadrupling existing memory capacity to deliver the memory performance that is critical to HPC applications.

Enterprise customers -- including those in Mechanical Computer Aided Design (MCAD), Engineering (MCAE), life sciences, automotive, aerospace, electronic design, digital content creation, and financial services -- with the most demanding computing environments can now reap advantages from new system innovations in memory technology.

"Colfax is in the forefront to providing enterprise customers with the most advanced, reliable and energy-efficient systems," said Gautam Shah, President and CEO of Colfax International. "By leveraging the latest in memory technology, Colfax provides customers with the performance they need to power their most mission-critical workloads in real-world environments while still reducing costs."

System Details and Availability

The MetaSDRAM chipset, which sits between the memory controller and the DRAM, solves the memory capacity problem cost effectively by enabling up to four times more mainstream DRAMs to be integrated into existing DIMMs. Systems featuring MetaSDRAM technology are Colfax CX1460-N2 1U Rackmount Server, Colfax CX1254-N2 1U Rackmount Server and Colfax High-End Workstation CX980.

* The Colfax CX1460-N2 is an ultra-dense 1U rackmount server with 256GB of DDR2 memory and four AMD Opteron[TM] 8000 series processors.

* The Colfax CX1254-N2 is an ultra-dense 1U rackmount server with 128GB of DDR2 memory and two AMD Opteron[TM] 2000 series processors.

* The Colfax CX980 is a high-end workstation with 64GB of DDR2 memory and two AMD Opteron[TM] 2000 series processors.

All the systems are immediately available. They can be completely customized to suit individual needs:
