Iowa Department of Education Data Warehouse and Reporting Solution to Improve Student Achievement and Meet State and Federal Reporting Requirements
RESTON, Va. -- Claraview, Inc., a strategy and technology consultancy specializing in data warehousing and business intelligence (BI), today announced that it was awarded through a competitive solicitation a contract by the Iowa Department of Education (DE) to design, develop, implement and support the Iowa Data Warehouse Solution (IDWS). The IDWS will provide information that will help the DE, Area Education Agencies (AEA), school districts, educators and school administrators evaluate and plan educational programs, justify funding, tailor instruction based on student performance, and ensure that parents and the general public can easily gain access to educational information they need.
Claraview will develop and implement this comprehensive data warehousing reporting solution, providing multiple benefits to the State:
* Enable data integration from numerous data sources into a scalable data warehouse customized to meet Iowa's K-12 information needs
* Analyze student demographic characteristics and student achievement data at various levels such as the DE, AEA, school district, school buildings, grade level, etc. in order to understand where student achievement is lowest/highest and to ascertain where intervention is needed
* Improve Iowa's educational decision making through the use of educational analytics and performance management tools
* Provide the DE, AEA, school districts, schools and the general public access to appropriate education data, reports, and decision support tools through a flexible, easy-to-use web interface
* Meet the informational and reporting requirements at the state and federal levels as laid out in the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)
* Comply with state and federal laws and statutes that protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of student information such as regulations from FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
"The Iowa Department of Education is excited about our data warehouse project with Claraview and the effect it will have on our educational system," said Roger Stirler, Chief of Office of Internal Administrative Services, Iowa Department of Education. "We have spent years perfecting the collection of data and this project will provide us with the ability to feed data back to the decision-makers in Iowa to drive improved educational opportunities for our students."
"Making the strategic decisions that impact thousands of students for years to come requires K-12 subject matter expertise and industry experience in building statewide longitudinal data systems," said Eric Driscoll, Claraview Partner and head of its Education Analytics practice. "This is a mission-critical program and we look forward to serving DE and the citizens of the State of Iowa in making this an outstanding success."
The IDWS will improve student achievement and provide greater accountability for school systems across the State. The effort will leverage Claraview's extensive best practices, K-12 expertise, and exclusive focus in data warehousing and business intelligence and apply it for educational purposes to meet the needs of DE's goals and mission as well as assist the state in complying with NCLB.
