Textron Elects Lloyd G. Trotter to Board of Directors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) today announced that Lloyd G. Trotter has been elected to the company's Board of Directors, effective March 1, 2008. Trotter has announced his retirement as vice chairman of GE and president and chief executive officer of GE Industrial, a $28 billion business with nearly 80,000 employees worldwide. Trotter is also a managing partner of GenNx360, a private equity buy out firm focused on industrial business-to-business companies.

Trotter began his 38-year career at GE as a field service engineer. He went on to hold production and technology positions in several GE businesses, including Lighting, Gas Turbine and Appliances. He was later elected vice president and general manager of Manufacturing for Electrical Distribution and Control where he was responsible for the entire manufacturing process and for the integration of 40 production facilities throughout the world. Two years later he became the business' president and chief executive officer, and in 1998 when it merged with GE Industrial Controls Systems, he was named a GE senior vice president and the president and chief executive officer of the newly created Industrial Systems.
Trotter is a founding member of GE's African-American Forum and actively involved in professional and community organizations.
Trotter earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Cleveland State University, and in 2001 the school awarded him an honorary doctorate degree. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Trotter was on the boards of the National Association of Manufacturers, the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) and the GE Foundation. He has been newly appointed to the PepsiCo board.
