Aberdeen Provides Detailed Research into how Best-in-Class Companies Manage Contract Labor Programs

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Peopleclick, Inc., the leading global talent acquisition solutions provider, announced today the release of Aberdeen Group's "Contract Labor Management: Permanent Solutions for Temporary Workers". The report uses data collected from over 330 executives to examine contract labor strategies and usage of technology. The purpose of this research is to provide insight for companies that are seeking to improve performance and cost savings within their contract labor programs. The complete report is available for complimentary download at www.peopleclick.com.

The research report shows that companies with a high level of collaboration between procurement and human resources for the management of contract labor have 115 percent higher cost savings rate than companies with little or no collaboration. Further, the data clearly indicates that partnership among internal teams creates streamlined processes and helps to ensure companies hire the best quality candidates.

"The ability for procurement and HR to tie their contract labor program to the salaried staffing program is a strategy that will result in measurable cost savings and process enhancements," said Andrew Bartolini, research vice president at Aberdeen Group. "Today, organizations understand the need to include all stakeholders in their staffing strategies. Those that do so successfully, are able to realize larger cost savings than others and are able to participate in strategic planning for the overall workforce--a critical business advantage."

The report enumerates the reality of the changing market for available labor, and how decentralized program management and undefined programs for procurement of contract workers, who often supplement salaried staffing, can frequently compound the issue of rising labor costs in a volatile market. Because of the need to focus on costs, the report describes companies' top reasons for defining and controlling contract labor programs. The top reasons include the need to increase visibility into contract labor spend and reduce "maverick" spend. The report also details how companies need to combine strategic actions, organizational capabilities and enabling technologies to reduce costs.

To achieve Aberdeen's "Best-in-Class" status, companies were required to achieve at least 20 percent cost savings over the past year on their contract labor program through technology solutions and unique management strategies. The report describes how best-in-class companies are more likely to employ a standardized workflow for candidate selection, approvals and management. They are also more likely to have a business intelligence system, time and attendance management system and compliance tracking in order to increase cost savings.

"Aberdeen's report emphasizes our vision that talent acquisition must incorporate all types of labor, including salaried, hourly and contract, in a single, strategic program," said Ginny Gomez, senior vice president of product management and marketing at Peopleclick. "As the available labor pool shifts, it will continue to be critical that companies focus on an overall strategy that includes workforce planning and key performance metrics across the entire hiring function in order to find the best candidates and manage rising labor costs."
