National Labor Relations Board Selects Qwest to Support Federal Agency's Voice Network
Business Wire, Feb 6, 2008
Qwest Will Serve NLRB Headquarters and 56 Offices Across the United States
DENVER -- Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced it has been selected by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to deliver voice services, under the Networx Universal contract, to its headquarters in Washington, D.C., and 56 offices across the country.
"We are pleased the National Labor Relations Board chose Qwest after performing a competitive review," said Diana Gowen, senior vice president and general manager of Qwest Government Services. "This is a significant implementation and demonstrates Qwest's ability to scale with the growing communications needs of federal agencies."
Qwest is providing the NLRB a range of products and services, including dedicated voice, switched voice, toll-free and conference calling, as well as performance criteria and billing structure, which is more efficient and convenient than previous systems and reduces paperwork.
The NLRB is an independent federal agency created by Congress to administer the National Labor Relations Act, the primary law governing relations between unions and employers in the private sector.
This is Qwest's second major award under the Networx Universal contract, a program by the General Services Administration (GSA) that provides comprehensive communications and networking services and technical solutions to all federal agencies. Last fall, it received one of the first Networx task orders when the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) selected Qwest to build a state-of-the-art communications network for a suite of digital services to interconnect the agency's nearly 60 nationwide offices.
Qwest has a legacy of providing advanced and secure communications services to the federal government and currently serves more than 50 civilian, military and intelligence agencies.
