Berggruen Holdings and Marlin Equities List EUR 600 Million Liberty International on Euronext

LONDON -- Berggruen Holdings, a global private investment company led by Nicolas Berggruen, and Marlin Equities IV, LLC ("Marlin Equities") , an investment vehicle of Martin E. Franklin, today announced that Liberty International Acquisition Company ("Liberty International"), a special purpose acquisition company ("SPAC"), listed on NYSEEuronext's (NYX) Amsterdam market under the symbol LIACU. Liberty International raised a total of EU600 million in new capital from the sale of 60 million Units comprising one share and one warrant at an introductory price of EU10 per Unit.
"The listing of Liberty International provides us with a highly versatile and efficient way of employing capital without relying on today's precarious debt markets," said Nicolas Berggruen, founder and president of Berggruen Holdings. "We look forward to the business opportunities that Liberty International will allow us to pursue."
Liberty International is a blank check company that will seek business combination opportunities with companies with principal business operations outside North America. On December 7, 2008, Berggruen Holdings and Marlin Equities listed Liberty Acquisition Holdings Corp. ("Liberty Domestic") on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol LIA.U and raised $1.035 billion. Liberty Domestic seeks business combinations inside the U.S. and was the largest-ever SPAC IPO listing.
Citigroup acted as the lead underwriter for the listing and Lehman Brothers and Deutsche Bank acted as co-managers.
