FREMONT, Calif. -- Rackable Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:RACK), a leading provider of servers and storage products for large-scale data centers, today announced the immediate availability of 11 new servers utilizing the company's new high density, Eco-Logical[TM] C1001 1U half-depth chassis. The systems leverage the latest advancements from technology providers AMD (NASDAQ:AMD), Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) and nVidia (NASDAQ:NVDA).

The new server models feature a choice of one hot-swap 3.5" or two hot-swap 2.5" SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) or SATA II (Serial ATA II) disk drives, with capacity of up to two Terabytes per system. Each C1001 configuration can accommodate up to 64 GB of memory and draws as few as 161 total watts of power (with both processors installed). Up to 88 C1001 servers can be housed in a Rackable Systems rack to achieve extreme density in an environmentally-friendly footprint.

"The addition of this robust new set of servers augments our flexible, build-to-order product set," said Mark J. Barrenechea, President and CEO of Rackable Systems. "We continue to demonstrate product leadership, bringing the latest technologies to market as we expand in our core markets and serve our growing customer base."

Rackable Systems' C1001 supports the broad range of dual-core and quad-core processors available from both AMD and Intel, including Intel's new 45 nm options.

Three new Intel([R]) Xeon([R])-based servers are available:

* C1001-L03: Intel 5000P chipset, 8 x DDR2 FB 667 memory, 6 x SATA II ports, PCI-E expansion slot

* C1001-L04: Intel 5000P chipset, 8 x DDR2 FB 667 memory, 4 x SAS ports, PCI-E expansion slot

* C1001-L06: Intel 5000P chipset, 8 x DDR2 FB 667 memory, 6 x SATA II ports, PCI-X expansion slot

The following eight AMD Opteron[TM]-based servers are now also available:

* C1001-A03: nVIDIA nForce Pro 2200 chipset, 8 x DDR2 667 memory, 4 x SATA II ports, PCI-E expansion slot

* C1001-A05: nVIDIA nForce Pro 2200 chipset, 16 x DDR2 667 memory, 4 x SATA II ports, PCI-E expansion slot

* C1001-T09: nVidia nForce Pro 3600 chipset, 8 x DDR2 667 memory, 4 x SAS ports, PCI-E expansion slot

* C1001-T12: nVidia nForce Pro 3600 chipset, 16 x DDR2 667 memory, 6 x SATA II ports, PCI-E expansion slot

* C1001-T13: nVidia nForce Pro 3600 chipset, 16 x DDR2 667 memory, 8 x SAS ports, PCI-E expansion slot

Rackable Systems' award-winning x86 server designs -- which help reduce power consumption and cooling costs -- can enable some of the world's largest data centers to deploy high density, high performance server configurations while significantly reducing operational expenses and total cost of ownership. As organizations continue to focus on decreasing energy consumption and implementing "green" technology in the data center, Rackable Systems' Eco-Logical server and storage products help them meet these challenges.
