Business Wire, Jan 10, 2008
MENLO PARK, Calif. -- Fergason Patent Properties LLC (FPP) announced the completion of a licensing agreement with Lite-On Technology Corporation under which FPP has licensed certain rights related to a family of patents that include U.S. patents 5,717,422 and 6,816,141.
The licensed patents relate to System Synchronized Brightness Control (SSBC(TM)) technology that improves the video image quality of LCD and projection displays through the synchronous modulation of backlight brightness and the video signal. The process is widely described in the display industry as High Dynamic Range (HDR) video.
"We are pleased that a leading LCD monitor maker will introduce HDR performance in its monitors and that Lite-On has licensed our IP," reported Dr. James Fergason, chairman of FPP.
Lite-On has adopted HDR to provide a valuable improvement in LCD video performance. HDR improves the black level as well as increases the contrast of video images, especially in dark and bright scenes.
