Conde Nast Names Robert A. Sauerberg, Jr. Group President, Consumer Marketing

NEW YORK -- Robert A. Sauerberg, Jr. has been named Group President, Conde Nast Consumer Marketing, it was announced today by Charles H. Townsend, President and C.E.O. of Conde Nast Publications.
"Managing our relationships with consumers is every bit as important as our editorial and advertising sales responsibilities," said Mr. Townsend. "We are fortunate to have someone of Bob's experience and aptitude leading the growth of our consumer, retail, and database marketing efforts through both traditional and new online channels. He's an invaluable member of our executive management team."
Most recently, Mr. Sauerberg was Executive Vice President of Conde Nast Consumer Marketing. As Group President, he will continue to oversee all sales and marketing activities to consumers for Conde Nast Publications, a portfolio of brands with a monthly circulation of more than 23 million and total readership of 122 million. Mr. Sauerberg also represents Conde Nast on the board of CMG, a retail distribution partnership with the Hearst Corporation and will now serve on the board of the Magazine Publishers of America along with David Carey, Group President and Publishing Director.
Until September 2005, Mr. Sauerberg was Chief Operating Officer of Fairchild Publications, Inc., a position he had held since December 2001, when he was promoted from Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. At Fairchild, his combined responsibilities included oversight of manufacturing and distribution, information technology, and finance. In addition, Mr. Sauerberg managed activities relating to Fairchild's internet, trade circulation, licensing, and conference businesses.
Prior to joining Fairchild, Mr. Sauerberg spent 18 years with The New York Times Company in finance and administration roles in the newspaper and magazine divisions, culminating in his being named CFO of The New York Times Magazine Group. Previously, Mr. Sauerberg worked for several of the New York Times regional newspapers in Atlanta, Alabama, and California, where he was in charge of managing the financial operations of the various newspapers, as well as integrating new businesses.
Mr. Sauerberg has an MBA from Mercer University and a BSBA in Finance from the University of Arkansas.
Conde Nast Publications, a unit of Advance Publications, includes twenty-six consumer magazines and their websites, eight commercial websites, the Fairchild Fashion Group, the Conde Nast Media Group, and the shared services centers.
