CA CMDB Named Best Product in Its Category in SearchDataCenter.com's "Product of the Year" Awards
Business Wire, Jan 16, 2008
Product Earns Gold Award in CMDB and Provisioning Category; CA AutoSys Wins Bronze Award in Data Center Automation Tools Category
ISLANDIA, N.Y. -- CA (NYSE:CA) today announced that CA CMDB r11.1 was judged as the top CMDB software product in Tech Target's SearchDataCenter.com 2007 "Products of the Year" awards.
CA CMDB r11.1 was chosen from a number of new products submitted for consideration to SearchDataCenter.com in eight categories. The awards were judged by the editors of TechTarget's SearchDataCenter.com, in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts and consultants. Judges selected the Products of the Year among data center products introduced, upgraded and shipped between October 31, 2006 and November 1, 2007.
Given the dynamic nature of IT environments, SearchDataCenter.com said the best CMDBs are those that include functionality for determining the relationship among CIs, as well as the ability to validate changes and reconcile any unauthorized changes against the officially-sanctioned environment.
CA CMDB r11.1 includes important functionality such as automated relationship discovery, impact analysis of planned changes, the ability for IT managers to build and manage CIs (configuration items) through reporting, visualization features, and an administrative user interface. In addition, it supports data federation by allowing data centers to collect a variety of CI information from multiple data sources and combine it with the contents of the CMDB--a model that can simplify control of an IT infrastructure.
"New management technologies that enable IT organizations to keep pace with the relentless growth in the scale and complexity of their data centers with limited staff are essential to their success," said Brian Bell, senior vice president and general manager of CA's Service Management business unit. "As the winner of the 2007 Product of the Year award, CA CMDB excels at providing insight into the relationships among all the 'moving parts' in today's hyper-complex computing environments."
In presenting its Bronze award to CA AutoSys Workload Automation r11, SearchDataCenter.com noted that "the consistent web interface stands out for transparency, integration and ease of use" and "policy-based management, workflow monitoring, and reporting capabilities" that enable "business-responsive and adaptive data center operations."
A highly scalable, event-driven workload automation solution for distributed environments, CA AutoSys Workload Automation is an integral component of CA's Workload Automation Solution, which is designed to optimize the delivery of critical workload processes across diverse enterprise infrastructures.
