Altera Nios II C2H Compiler Awarded Elektra '07 Embedded System Product of the Year

Business Wire, Jan 21, 2008

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) announced today its Nios([R]) II C-to-Hardware Acceleration Compiler (Nios II C2H Compiler) was awarded Embedded System Product of the Year at the Elektra '07 European Electronic Industry Awards.

The Nios II C2H Compiler delivers both improved performance and reduced power consumption for embedded systems. It substantially increases the performance of embedded software by automatically converting performance-critical C language subroutines into hardware blocks and integrating them into FPGA-based Nios II processor subsystems. By allowing designers to reduce their clock rates by moving Nios II software into hardware blocks, this tool also decreases the overall power consumption of FPGAs in embedded designs.

"The Nios II C2H Compiler provides an innovative performance and power management value proposition that is unique to FPGAs," said Danny Biran, senior vice president of product and corporate marketing, Altera Corporation. "This award is further validation of the unique capabilities of this tool and the enthusiastic response it has received from embedded system designers."

The Elektra Awards are the most prestigious product technology and business awards in Europe. The winners of each category are chosen by a panel of experts drawn from the industry and a representative of Electronics Weekly. The winners of the Elektra '07 awards were announced at a ceremony at the London Hilton on December 12, 2007 in the U.K.
