Americas Wind Energy Corporation is Pleased to Announce Growing Interest in Its Wind Turbines from the Education Market

Business Wire, Jan 21, 2008

TORONTO -- Americas Wind Energy Corporation ("AWEC" or the "Company") (OTCBB:AWNE) announces recent activities in the market for wind turbines installed by educational institutions in the United States and Canada, one of AWEC's target markets.

* An AWE 54-900 kW wind turbine is currently being delivered to Wray, Colorado for installation in January 2008 at the Wray RD2 School District. The wind turbine will be connected to the Wray municipal grid and, in addition to producing clean renewable power, will provide students at the Wray school a first hand opportunity to be exposed to wind technology.

* AWEC recently responded to a request for quotation for the installation of an AWE 900 kW wind turbine on the campus of The Cape Cod Community College in Sandwich, Massachusetts. The College hopes to install the wind turbine in late 2008.

* As part of its final due diligence, a delegation from the University of Illinois recently visited AWEC representatives in Toronto to view the AWE 750 kW wind turbine installed on the Toronto waterfront. The University plans to install three AWE 900kW wind turbines on a wind farm on the south campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.

* AWEC responded to a request for quotation by the University of Maine Presque Isle campus for the installation of an AWE 900 kW wind turbine for research and development, educational and revenue producing purposes.

* A proposal has been prepared for Oakland University in Michigan for the installation of two AWE 900 kW wind turbines for revenue and educational purposes.

AWEC believes that many similar opportunities exist in educational institutions in the United States and Canada and that the direct drive AWE 900 kW wind turbine is ideally suited for this purpose. The Company is pleased with what it can offer the Education Market and expects more opportunities to present themselves in the near future.
