Cross Match Receives MIL-STD-810F Certification for L SCAN Guardian R Currently Used in Military Deployments
Business Wire, Jan 24, 2008
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a global provider of biometric identity solutions, today announced its L SCAN Guardian R tested in full compliance and obtained certification for harsh environmental conditions specified under Department of Defense (DoD) specification MIL-STD-810F. This certification, in addition to the IP 65 dust and moisture rating attained in July 2006, formally documents the intrinsic rugged durability of the Guardian R.
Cross Match designed the Guardian R, a ruggedized extension of the L SCAN([R]) Guardian[TM] ten-print scanner, to meet military specifications for extreme requirements and harsh environmental conditions encountered in military deployments. Recently, Cross Match submitted the Guardian R to an independent lab for testing and certification of nine harsh environmental conditions under the DoD's MIL-STD-810F specifications. The Guardian R tested in full compliance and became the only ten-print livescan device to meet the military specification for blowing dust.
"Cross Match has deployed ruggedized live scan systems to the U.S. Military for use in harsh and remote environments for more than four years. With the Guardian R, we are pleased to continue this tradition and deliver the most durable, highest quality, mission capable ten-print device to assist the Military in their critically important mission," commented Thomas Buss, Cross Match's Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives.
The Guardian and Guardian R remain the only ten-print livescan devices to meet all the size and functional requirements of the U.S. Government Joint Agency User Group. Both scanners remain the smallest, most lightweight portable ten-print scanners currently offered in the industry. Weighing five pounds and fully sealed within a metal casing, the Guardian R is shipped as a stand alone unit or bundled in the Cross Match Multimodal Jump Kit along with face and iris recognition systems.
The Guardian R has held the IP65 rating classification, as defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission, since its initial release. The recently submitted MIL-STD-810F certification was issued by Stork East-West Technology Corporation, a major independent testing laboratory with more than 30 years of testing and certification experience.
