Tech Data is First U.S. Distributor for Fujitsu Servers
Business Wire, Jan 24, 2008
CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) Division of Tech Data Corporation (NASDAQ:TECD) today announced a distribution agreement with Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation that expands the availability of Fujitsu servers to value-added resellers (VARs) nationwide. With the addition of Fujitsu PRIMERGY[R] servers, AIS provides VARs with access to one of the broadest industry-standard x86 server solutions offerings available through distribution. AIS also recently announced a similar agreement to distribute Fujitsu ETERNUS[R] SAN solutions.
"Businesses of all sizes are looking to their data centers to deliver enhanced support across all areas of operation, including business continuity, security and systems availability," said Tech Data Senior Vice President and General Manager, Advanced Infrastructure Solutions, Pete Peterson. "At the same time, CIOs and their technical staffs are being challenged to reduce costs and physical space requirements, improve manageability and adopt greener, more environmentally friendly technologies. That creates opportunity for VARs offering solutions that leverage the latest high-end server and storage technologies - such as the Fujitsu PRIMERGY and ETERNUS lines - along with exciting applications like virtualization."
"Because of our partnership with Tech Data, Fujitsu is now one of only a handful of manufacturers offering VARs the opportunity to deliver a single-vendor server and storage solution," said Richard McCormack, senior vice president of marketing for Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation. "Our PRIMERGY servers have gained tremendous traction in the European market, and now we have the opportunity to partner with some of the nation's leading VARs to build our presence in the U.S. channel. The AIS team at Tech Data understands the dynamic trends and new technologies impacting data center design and how Fujitsu and our VAR partners can capitalize on the growing demand for high-end server and storage solutions."
Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers offer an array of features for enhanced availability, manageability and performance. Through AIS, Tech Data will distribute the entire Fujitsu PRIMERGY line, including:
* PRIMERGY TX120 - small-business/branch-office tower server a third the size and consuming 40 percent less power than standard tower servers, according to Fujitsu
* PRIMERGY RX300 S3 - rack-mounted server designed for enhanced data center scalability, featuring Intel Xeon or quad-core processors and integrated remote management capabilities
* PRIMERGY BX600 - blade server supporting up to 10 dual-processor blade servers, a combination of dual- and quad-core blades or AMD- and Intel-powered blades
Tech Data and Fujitsu also plan to offer VARs bundled PRIMERGY and ETERNUS solutions, as well as servers pre-configured with virtualization software.
Fujitsu server and storage VARs have access to dedicated sales and technical resources at Tech Data. The AIS team will engage VARs to ensure they acquire the necessary training and authorizations to sell these solutions. AIS also will host a series of conferences focused on the latest trends impacting data center design. The first AIS conference this year will be held during Tech Data's April Technology Solutions Tour in Chicago. To learn more, call (800) 237-8931, ext. 82083, or visit www.techdata.com.
