Aeroports de Paris Uses Blue Coat Appliances to Accelerate Internet Access, Reduce Bandwidth Consumption, Protect Against Malware and Manage Use

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BCSI), the leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that Aeroports de Paris has selected and installed Blue Coat([R]) ProxySG([R]) appliances for accelerating Internet content and applications, reducing bandwidth consumption, protecting against malware and enforcing policies for employee usage.

To meet the growing demand for Internet access, protect its infrastructure and enforce usage regulations, Aeroports de Paris installed a combination of ProxySG and ProxyAV appliances. These replaced some existing older proxy appliances which lacked the capacity, flexibility and manageability needed by the world-class Paris airports. A central requirement was the ability to accelerate content in addition to merely performing URL filtering for the nearly 6,000 employees who depend on Internet usage. Blue Coat appliances have been installed in all of the Aeroports de Paris locations, but are managed centrally through use of Blue Coat Director.

The deployment of Blue Coat appliances was done over a six month period and coordinated through the Information Technology and Telecommunications Department by Fabrice Lormant, Head of the Security Project (the research unit), and Jean-Michel Raulot, Manager of the Security Section (the operating unit). The installation began with a pilot phase, with a limited number of internal users who were chosen to validate the operation and use of the solution.

"We were won over by the power of Blue Coat appliances," said Fabrice Lorman about the results they experienced during the trial period. "They gave us quick and reliable Internet access along with solid protection and management and immediately improved our individual employee productivity. Our employee user feedback has been very positive."

"With the Blue Coat family of products, Aeroports de Paris has the benefit of security and control combined with acceleration to make Internet fast and productive for business use," said Emmanuelle Ribouleau, regional sales director South of Europe, Blue Coat Systems. "As companies and organizations rely more on the Internet, they can no longer afford a trade-off between security and performance. With Blue Coat, companies no longer have to compromise."
