John Ramil Named to TECO Energy Board of Directors

TAMPA, Fla. -- TECO Energy, Inc. (NYSE:TE) today announced that John B. Ramil has been named to its board of directors, effective immediately. Like other TECO Energy directors, Ramil will also serve on the board of the company's principal subsidiary, Tampa Electric Company.
Ramil has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of TECO Energy since July 2004. In that role he leads TECO Energy's four operating companies: Tampa Electric, Peoples Gas, TECO Coal and TECO Guatemala.
Chairman and CEO Sherrill Hudson said, "We are pleased to add John Ramil's wealth of experience to the TECO Energy board of directors, as well as his unsurpassed knowledge of our operations."
Ramil's career with TECO Energy spans nearly 32 years. He was formerly president of Tampa Electric. Ramil also served as vice president-Finance and Chief Financial Officer for TECO Energy, and earlier as Vice President-Energy Services & Planning for Tampa Electric. He has held a variety of leadership positions in different parts of the company, including engineering, operations, marketing, customer service and environmental.
Ramil received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Engineering from the University of South Florida, where he is currently vice chairman of the USF Board of Trustees. He has attended several post-graduate courses, including completion of The Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Ramil is a member of the corporate board of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc.
He also serves on the boards of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and is a past chair of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, the American Heart Association-Tampa Bay Heart Walk, InRoads Tampa Bay, the Southeastern Electric Exchange and the Florida Electric Power Coordinating Group.
TECO Energy, Inc. (NYSE:TE) is an energy-related holding company. Its principal subsidiary, Tampa Electric Company, is a regulated utility in Florida with both electric and gas divisions (Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas System).
