The History and Future of Photofinishing to Be Exhibited by Noritsu at CES 2008
Business Wire, Jan 5, 2008
BUENA PARK, Calif. -- Noritsu America Corporation, a leading manufacturer of digital imaging equipment, will debut the new D701, a retail inkjet photo printer at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas January 7-10. Noritsu will be exhibiting in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth number 31431.
The D701 is the latest addition to an extensive line of digital photo imaging equipment that represents Noritsu's commitment to innovation and dedication to providing retail partners with the most profitable photo imaging equipment in the industry.
The retail photo industry continues to grow. According to research from InfoTrends Inc., and the Photo Marketing Association, consumers are printing digital photos at retail locations at a rapidly increasing rate. It is estimated that about 50% of the 15.3 billion digital photo prints are made at retail today. That number is expected to grow to almost 60% by 2011. This is an exciting opportunity for retailers who can meet this growing consumer demand with in-store photo printing capabilities.
The Noritsu D701 is a high quality inkjet printer capable of producing a wide variety of print sizes to maximize revenue potential. Retailers can now provide their customers with a full assortment of photo and photo-related products in stores. In addition to standard 4"x6" prints, the D701 can produce new photo revenue opportunities through items such as calendars, photo cards, locker prints and posters up to 10" x 36". The D701 utilizes a revolutionary new inkjet technology that radically improves the dye ink process to provide sharp detail and brilliant colors, while producing long-lasting prints that resist deterioration from ozone and light. Ideal for photofinishing and retail environments, the D701 is an extremely compact printing system, taking up only 4.6 square feet of space. Two D701 printers can be stacked together to increase printing capacity without increasing footprint. Other features include an order sorter that organizes print orders for improved productivity and the ability to switch between sheet and roll-fed paper, which enables the printer to handle variety of print jobs for greater revenue opportunities.
The D701 works well as the printing element of a complete photo solution, providing retailers with an easy-to-deploy in-store print solution that has connectivity to third party kiosks from companies such as Lucidiom, Whitech and LifePics.
Noritsu has a rich history in photofinishing. The company's founder, Mr. Kanichi Nishimoto, invented the process that spawned the one hour photo lab. Noritsu was the first to introduce the one hour lab concept to the world in 1976. The company has continued to contribute to the advancement of photo technology over the years, including innovations like the introduction of world's first inkjet minilab in 2003. Attendees at 2008 CES will be able to view a display at the Noritsu booth that shows a timeline tracing the company's heritage.
"At CES we are celebrating our 30 years of operation in the US," commented Mr. Akihiko Kuwabara, President of Noritsu America Corporation. We are exhibiting our latest printer, the D701, which is embodies the latest advancements in photo technology and is designed to provide retailers with profitable photo opportunities."
